Overview

Reporting to the Head of Training, daa Aviation Security Training Organisation, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Security Training Instructors. The Security Training Instructor will provide modular training, advanced instruction, examine in the competencies for screener certification and provide on-going support to Aviation Security Screeners and Supervisory/Team Lead staff members in all aspects of training. The role holder will provide training support to Duty Sergeants in Cork Airport and work cross-functionally to deliver Security training to daa employees outside of Security as required.

 

This role is based in Dublin but there will be a requirement to travel to Cork airport and locations outside of Dublin airport to deliver training. This appointment is subject to achieving and retaining IAA certified instructor and examiner status, and attending and completing appropriate training courses as required.

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification in aviation security or a training discipline desirable
  • Successfully completed IAA Screener Certification exams with a minimum score of 85%
  • Have attained Certified Instructor/Examiner status from IAA (Instructor/Examiner status must be attained within the first 3 months post appointment if not already held)
  • Experience in aviation security operations
  • Knowledge of the work environment in the relevant aviation security field
  • Ability to multitask in a high paced working environment
  • Experience preparing and proven delivery of training programmes
  • A proven ability to communicate, both verbal and written, and also the ability to draft and assist in the development of technical training and documents
  • Must work with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Experience using Oracle
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of computer set-up for presentations
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Excellent administration skills; record-keeping and report-writing

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver classroom-based initial/recurrent training and computer-based training for all induction classes and existing screeners in Dublin airport
  • Deliver onsite training/briefing support to Supervisors, Team Leaders and screeners
  • Deliver other training as required
  • Direct, in a live environment, during their designated training period
  • Coach and/or retrain based on back to work requirements, observation or feedback from Aviation Security Supervisors and Team Leads
  • Participate in the continual improvement of Aviation Security Screeners initial training, using observation, feedback and benchmarking to build excellence into both curriculum and delivery
  • Develop instructional programmes, and other materials to meet new demands across the Security operation at both Cork and Dublin airports, such as changes to security regulations, technology, and equipment and security policies
  • Deliver training for screener certification exams
  • Achieve and retain certified instructor status
  • Achieve and retain examiner status for the purpose of examining screeners in both practical and written screener certification exams
  • Correct and score exam papers for initial training/recurrent training and certification exams
  • Be flexible in carrying out duties beyond assigned tasks in response to customer/stakeholder/operational needs as they arise
  • Deliver high quality performance to achieve set targets and specified quality standards and processes
  • Be professional and execute duties in a consistent manner in keeping with daa techniques and procedures
  • Undertake any reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Training or Deputy Head of Training, daa Aviation Security Training Organisation
