  • Overview

    A role has arisen within AMD, daa’s Asset Management and Development business unit. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will report to the Senior Cost Manager and will assume full responsibility for the management of the commercial and contractual function on Airfield Civils Projects.

     

    AMD are engaged in the delivery of a €400m+ Capital Investment Programme at Dublin & Cork Airports, over the 5-year period, 2015-19. AMD’s remit is to deliver this portfolio of projects in a timely and cost effective manner while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

    The main responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor are to implement and utilise the daa commercial procedures, tools and processes to the highest standards to allow for effective monitoring and control of the Airfield Civils Projects.

    The successful applicant will have experience of large scale civil engineering projects and of the FIDIC / NEC & IEI suite.  

    Qualifications

     

    • A highly qualified industry professional with 5-7 years post graduate experience on civil engineering projects
    • Strong experience of delivering technically complex Civil Engineering projects
    • Good knowledge of the various forms of contract in use in the Construction Industry
    • An understanding the workings of CESMM3&4, its principles and use.
    • Working knowledge of the various contracting and procurement options
    • Experience of working in another comparable consultancy environment, or with a client or contractor organisation
    • Strong negotiation skills and excellent numerical ability
    • An understanding of project governance and construction procurement processes
    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are key along with high personal motivation and energy
    • Ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes
    • Excellent organisational skills with a positive, flexible work attitude
    • Ability to work to strict deadlines and handle conflicting priorities
    • Problem solving ability, capable decision maker
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office especially excel
    • Can do / positive and practical attitude, solution focused

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in project ‘Kick Off’ meetings to ensure daa commercial & contract policies are properly implemented
    • Utilise the daa contract administration procedures
    • Review and approve all contractor interim and final payment certificates
    • Provide consultation to all personnel authorised to commit expenditure against the contract to avoid unnecessary or incorrect expenditure or failure to maintain sufficient audit trail
    • Maintain an audit file which will include the contract, all correspondence, changes, amendments, clarifications and payment schedules
    • Monitor and ensure project planned spend is achieved
    • Ensure close co-operation with planning staff in relation to assessment of progress and identification of EWNs for day works and variations – by implementing daa procedures and paper flow on site which facilitates these requirements
    • In relation to contractual claims, ensure that accurate contemporaneous records are prepared
    • Responsible for Cost Management, Cost Control and Cost Forecasting in accordance with daa procedures and the production of weekly and monthly reports
    • Monitor cash flow as per project budget
    • Any other adhoc duties as assigned from time to time
