    Aer Rianta International (ARI)

ARI is one of the largest and most significant players in the global travel retail industry. We own and manage duty free and duty paid retail outlets in Europe, The Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas. From pioneering beginnings when we opened the world’s first duty free shop in Shannon Airport in 1947, we now employ over 3,000 people worldwide and manage a turnover in excess of $1 billion. ARI’s head office is based in Dublin, Ireland and is a wholly owned subsidiary of daa plc.

    ARI Buying Function

ARI has established a high performing Buying team based across our global business. We have split buying into three main categories – Beauty, Liquor & Tobacco and Souvenirs/Accessories. Each category is then broken down by region – Europe and North America, Middle East and APAC. A large portion of the Global Buying team sits in ARI’s Head Office in Dublin, Ireland but we also have local Buyers based onsite in each region. The Buying team has the responsibility to build and develop on the current success of the business and ensure that the exciting plans, objectives and profitable revenues of the company are achieved by implementing an effective category and product strategy in each location.

This Global Buying Manager role in Auckland

This is a newly created Global Buying Manager role established due to ARI’s continued growth in the APAC region. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Beauty who is based in Ireland you will be responsible for implementing ARI’s global strategy for Beauty (Perfume and Cosmetics) within the region. You will work with local management to drive the business forward as well as liaising with General Managers in the airports to ensure that ARI is leveraging its global scale from a commercial perspective. As the most senior Buyer in the APAC region you will also act as a mentor to the team of three buyers working across all categories currently based in Auckland.

Within the region ARI currently manage businesses based in airports in Auckland and Jakarta. This role is based in Auckland airport but you would travel to Jakarta as required (likely every 6-8 weeks on average). This is a great role for a talented, ambitious buying professional who would like to work in a truly global organisation. You would be joining an experienced, high performing global buying team and will work in a best in class Retail Buying structure. This role currently manages circa 130 million NZD in sales across Auckland and Jakarta and this will likely expand over the coming years as ARI has concrete plans to expand into new airports across the APAC region (and is currently tendering for business).

ARI genuinely looks to develop and promote its employees internally and it is anticipated that there will be lots of opportunities for development and progression for someone who comes in and performs well in this role. This is a newly created role and you will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact within the business and your work will be highly visible to senior level stakeholders within the global business.
