    Dublin Airport are currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer. This role will report into the Design Manager – Airfield and Engineering and will have responsibility for the civil engineering elements associated with various projects including airfield projects, site works, utilities, external works associated with buildings, car parks and minor roads works.

    The role requires the production of designs, drawings, schedules of quantities, calculations, compliance documentation, Nav Aids assessments   and contract documentation and will also lead the co-ordination of design activities undertaken by 3rd party consultants ensuring full compliance.


    • Minimum 5 years experience in a combination of engineering and project management
    • Be approaching Chartered Civil Engineer status (in process) with a post graduate diploma (Level 9) in relevant field
    • Minimum Level 8 Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent)
    • International Level 9 Masters in relevant field would be advantageous
    • Experience acting as Design Lead on multi-million euro projects including reviewing designs and drawings produced internally and externally by 3rd parties.

    • Have a positive “can do” attitude and be capable of working on a number of projects simultaneously
    • Excellent report writing and ability to produce project feasibility reports.
    • Proven communication skills, sound judgement with an ability to deal with a wide variety of issues to tight timelines.
    • Ability to quickly assess all engineering matters pertinent to any project
    • Continuous track record of CPD points, courses, additional studies and exams throughout career

    • Preparation of designs & design reviews for airfield projects, as well as undertaking the day to day design of Civil, Structural engineering projects within amd. Ensuring that infrastructure projects and facilities are designed in accordance with codes of practice, ICAO/EASA standards and best international practice.
    • Acting as design team lead on small-medium scale projects to ensure that designs are complete and co-ordinated in a timely manner in line with project programmes, including the preparation and compilation of specifications, drawings, bill of quantities, design risk assessments and health and safety documents.
    • Managing a team up to 5 persons when acting as a design team lead
    • Ensure designs and contract documents are completed in accordance with timelines, quality, and cost objective as set out by daa and in compliance with best in class governance and controls procedures as defined within daa's amd programme / project execution system.
    • Ensure works are designed and phased in a manner which minimises operational disruption and be constructable and cost efficient
    • Ensure that the design responds appropriately to the specific elements of the user brief, such that all client requirements and expectations are adequately reflected in the design and execution and that the design is compliant with planning, fire and all other building and statutory requirements.
    • Reviewing external design packages for appropriatness and completeness. Review all consultants’ work and contractor submissions on all assigned projects
    • Preparation of tender requests for the procurement of external consultants
    • Be proactive in co-ordinating project design requirements between fellow design colleagues, project managers, asset care personnel and external consultants
