Overview

Dublin Airport is currently implementing a €3bn capital investment programme to grow the capacity of the airport.  A vacancy has arisen within the Infrastructure Department for an Infrastructure Strategy Lead.

 

This extensive portfolio of works see Dublin Airport deliver an extensive range of infrastructure including sustainability infrastructure, new piers, stands, taxiways and terminal infrastructure. All of this delivered while operating within a complex airport environment, with a significant number of Tier 1 critical stakeholders, customers, regulators, and state entities. In addition to this daa infrastructure department works in support of a number of other airports including Cork Airport, and daai’s internationals portfolio.

 

The Infrastructure Strategy Lead will work with the Head of Strategy and Operations to develop the strategic direction of the Infrastructure Department, manage key external relationships, communications, and infrastructure department operations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a strategic aviation infrastructure role, with a special focus on executive-level advising and interdepartmental collaboration.

 

The Infrastructure Strategy Lead will need to work in a creative and collaborative team environment to ensure delivery of the programme.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years post-graduation experience working in a strategic delivery role engaging with stakeholders, regulators, and executive management teams in the delivery of infrastructure.
  • The post holder will have experience in some or all of the fields of infrastructure / building / logistics/ project and programme leadership / management and project appraisal. They will have the skills and ability to complex networks of relationships in Semi-state environment. In particular they shall have experience and knowledge at concept/feasibility stages of project development.
  • Delivering the extensive portfolio requires managing multi-faceted stakeholders (internal and external) with differing and sometime conflicting opinions and requirements. A track record within a similar environment in achieving successful delivery is essential.
  • Track record of communication and collaborative work.
  • Ability to create a collaborative culture across of the programme teams.
  • Experience in working in a regulated environment and/or experience working in the aviation sector.
  • Experience in airport planning and strategic development.
  • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of working in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Engineering, or project management qualification at degree level or equivalent expertise.
  • Member of a relevant professional body preferred e.g. Chartered Engineer (Engineers Ireland or equivalent), Chartered Project Professional (CE or equivalent), or Programme Management Professional (PMI or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • The Infrastructure Strategy Lead will work to develop and manage the strategic direction of the department, with a focus on converting that strategy into action. They shall ensure that Dublin Airports Infrastructure department is in constant alignment to National Policy, Dublin Airport and daa strategies, Capital Investment Plans, and Masterplans.
  • In this they shall have particular focus on strategic projects which span programmes, teams, other airport departments and/or delivered with external parties. They shall also be responsible for tracking of departmental operations, including resourcing, performance, and strategic goals.
  • The role shall have a key focus on interface management with external stakeholders, with and through the various airport relationship owners as appropriate.
  • Support strategic initiatives from development through to successful execution.
  • Support the Head of Strategy and operations in communicating with executives in decision-making, program management, reporting and initiative implementation.
  • Inform key stakeholder relationships, and departmental communications.
  • Review, design, and execute improvements to org structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them.
  • Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
  • Build and develop relationships with teams.
  • Defining new operational strategies.
  • Support the development and implementation of departmental operations, including finances, resources, performance/KPIs, reporting and resourcing.
  • Working with Head of Strategy and Operations on special projects.
  • Support project ideation, concept, and feasibility.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, handling inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications.
  • Any other duties as identified by the Head of Strategy and Operations.
