The Industrial Engineering and Specialist Systems Lead will play a key role in the infrastructure team, primarily focusing on the management and implementation of industrial engineering systems. This role requires proficiency in the design, planning, and execution of complex engineering projects.

In the context of airport technology, these industrial engineering systems may include, but are not limited to, baggage handling systems, passenger security screening systems, and Airport Operations Systems (AOS), all of which require both low-level and high-level controls automation.

This position involves the design and planning management for the implementation of airport systems, including baggage handling systems, passenger security screening systems, Airport Operations Systems (AOS), and other industrial engineering systems encompassing low-level and high-level controls automation.

The Industrial Engineering and Specialist Systems Lead will contribute their unique skills to drive multiple project tasks. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplined team of specialists is vital for success in the role.

• Hold an appropriate third level qualification in industrial engineering, or related discipline.
• Engineering and Technology, experience of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes knowledge of the principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment used in the design and production of industrial engineering systems.
• Design and Implementation, a strong understanding of the life cycle of system design and implementation from requirements gathering through to final execution.
• Minimum of five years of experience.
• Industrial Systems Expertise: Demonstrated experience of various specialist systems and controls systems including PLC low level control, high level control SCADA systems, IT Networks, and Virtualisation.
• Complex Systems Understanding: Comprehensive understanding of complex electrical/mechanical systems.
• Engineering Processes: Good understanding of engineering processes.
• Design Coordination: Proven experience of design coordination on integrated models.
• Simulation and Testing: Experience of simulation development and experience of creating and executing test cases.
• Site Installation: Significant experience at site installation including integrated testing and commissioning of diverse industrial engineering systems.
• Software Proficiency: Proficient in the use of the MS office suite.
• Time management: The ability to deliver on stakeholder requirements within the required timeframes in a fast past operating environment.
• Communication: The ability to communicate and inform consistently up to and including Director Level.
• Airport Technology Systems: Familiarity with Airport Technology Systems such as Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Hold Baggage Screening, Passenger Security screening systems, and AOS.
• BIM Experience: Experience of BIM-enabled projects and clash detection is beneficial.
• Advanced Software Proficiency: Experience in the use of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), AutoCAD, and Revit 3D design modelling software and other BIM applications is advantageous.

• Design Expertise: Serve as Design Lead for specialist system projects, coordinate design activities including requirements gathering, design reviews, workshops, and coordination to ensure airport requirements are met.
• Requirements Management: Collaborate with specialist engineering consultants to develop and manage all requirements & specifications for the specialist systems projects. This includes creating technical requirement documents as well as testing & commissioning plans, following the V-Model approach.
• Leadership and Coordination: As the Industrial Engineering and Specialist Systems Lead, your role involves strategizing with the engineering team and managing technical resources effectively across projects. Your leadership will ensure optimal resource allocation, contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality industrial engineering systems.
• Technical Coaching: Coach team members on technical execution and propose technical solutions for complex problems.
• Quality Oversight: Oversee system functionality and technical quality of automated applications.
• Controls Architecture: In consultation with stakeholders, create a strategy and roadmap of controls architecture.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with various airport stakeholders, including IT, Security, Maintenance, Operations, Procurement, Consultants, Contractors, and delivery teams across different disciplines, such as Architectural, Electrical & Mechanical, Civil & Structural, Planning.
• Team Engagement: Engage team members thought work delegation on both long term and daily basis, creatively solving problems to optimise resources productivity based on project needs.
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
• Process Enhancement: Collaborate with operations/maintenance team to understand and improve processes and system delivery.
• ACC Implications: Oversee the implementation of ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) as the CDE (common data environment) for all system projects. This platform will be used for uploading technical documents, drawings, models, and managing all formal submittal reviews.
