We are creating a new Retail Design Lead role in ARI to sit within our Global Implementation team. There are two key focuses of this role. The first is to manage the retail store design process from inception to completion associated with new and existing stores across our global locations. The second is to support the business development team when responding to tenders and providing high quality retail store design proposals. One of the main elements of any new tender in our industry tends to be around ARI’s proposed design for the store and this role will be responsible for ensuring that ARI is always submitting world class design proposals reflecting our unique customer value proposition.

 

Candidates for this role should have prior experience working in a similar Design Manager type role for another Retail or Commercial organisation and be comfortable managing external design agencies.

 

This role will suit someone with prior demonstratable experience in retail design and project management, blended with architectural practice experience who is passionate about delivering best in class retail design. A strong focus on problem solving while delivering projects with creativity and commitment to the business needs. A track record of management and delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, all within fast-paced, tight timelines.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience working in a similar design role.
  • Experience designing large luxury retail stores preferred.
  • Excellent design and graphic ability.
  • Innovative architectural, retail, and interior design skills (comfortable using AutoCAD, Sketchup, InDesign, Photoshop and related design and graphics packages).
  • Formal Architecture and Certification.
  • Project Management qualification is desirable.
  • Experience managing external design agencies and proven ability to manage multimillion euro projects.
  • Proven ability to interact and manage various stakeholders at all levels – this role interacts with the ARI Executive team, external consultants, contractors, airport authorities, local authority, customs, security etc.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the retail design of new fitouts across ARI’s global estate.
  • Responsible for the delivery of high value capital projects globally, ensuring all projects are executed and delivered on time and in line.
  • Identification of scope of works, preparation of budgets for director-level approval.
  • Management of Design Capex budgets.
  • Prequalification of external consultants and contractors.
  • Analysis of tender submissions, negotiations with 3rd parties and making recommendations/preparing board papers for management/board.
  • Preparation of design briefs for the appointment of external consultants.
  • Management of external contractors and tender processes, negotiations regarding programme and cost.
  • Overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design creativity & oversight, execution, monitoring, controlling and the delivery of the elements of the retail delivery projects.
  • Collaboration with luxury brand partners on their design proposals, coordination, and installation.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with suppliers and contractors.
  • Regular monitoring of site progress and ensuring all works are compliant with in-house standards.
  • Programme management and identifying potential risks to programmes, while communicating clearly with all stakeholders.
  • Maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders across the business.
  • Management of project structure that will incorporate a number of 3rd parties including, external consultants, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
  • Interaction with various project stakeholders including vendors, airport authority, partners, local authorities, internal project teams, management, and staff.
