Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Airport Police and Fire Officers in Cork Airport on a permanent basis. The key objective for the Airport Police Fire Service is to ensure the safety and security of all people using the airports, in conjunction with the security and protection of all installations, buildings and aircraft and the provision of firefighting, rescue, ambulance and road traffic services.

 

A panel will be created which may be used to fill any vacancies that may arise subsequently in Cork Airport. 

Qualifications

  • Candidates will need to pass the company medical process which includes eyesight testing, colour blindness testing, hearing testing and in a very good general state of health.
  • Role related physical assessments will form part of the shortlisting process due the physically demanding nature of the role.
  • Full Clean Driving Licence – Class B
  • Provisional Class C – Driving Licence is desirable.
  • Experience of driving heavy vehicles, first-aid, would be an advantage.
  • Comfortable working at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hard working, flexible and prepared to take the initiative to deliver for the Airport in a constructive manner.
  • Calm and balanced temperament with the ability to respond effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

We are looking for individuals with a balanced temperament who can demonstrate a genuine interest in this type of work and can constructively contribute to the overall team objectives. Ability to deal with customers in a professional manner is of utmost importance. Continuous learning is an essential element of all positions within the Airport Police Fire Service.

 

  • Responding to aviation-related emergencies.
  • Compliance with IAA and EASA monitoring and auditing standards.
  • Conducting airfield inspections and bird patrols and wildlife management duties.
  • Conducting friction monitoring and testing runway surface conditions.
  • Responding to road traffic collisions as required.
  • Communication with and responding to ATC requests.
  • Maintaining standards of personal fitness and competency in role.
  • Firefighting using full range of appropriate equipment.
  • Administering first aid & assisting in the evacuation of people in life-threatening situations.
  • Protecting property endangered by fires.
  • Protecting the environment (as necessary) in an emergency situation.
  • Participating in training drills for fire control and rescue work.
  • Testing and maintaining fire service vehicles, and associated equipment.
  • Monitoring fire safety systems.
  • Observing aircraft movements on the manoeuvring area.
  • Carrying out regulated targeted patrols.
